Using the MCP2150 To Add IrDA Standard Wireless Connectivity

ثبت نشده
چکیده

The MCP2150 encodes an asynchronous serial data stream, converting each data bit to the corresponding infrared (IR) formatted pulse. IR pulses that are received are decoded, and then handled by the protocol handler logic. The protocol handler will then send the appropriate data bytes to the host controller in UART formatted serial data. The encoding/decoding functionality of the MCP2150 is designed to be compatible with the physical layer component of the IrDA standard. This part of the standard is referred to as “IrPHY”. A detailed discussion of this standard is beyond the scope of this application note, but a discussion regarding the encoding and decoding is in order. More detailed information is available from the IrDA standard website (www.IrDA.org).

Representing a Model for Improving Connectivity and Power Dissipation in Wireless Networks Using Mobile Sensors

Wireless sensor networks are often located in areas where access to them is difficult or dangerous. Today, in wireless sensor networks, cluster-based routing protocols by dividing sensor nodes into distinct clusters and selecting local head-clusters to combine and send information of each cluster to the base station and balanced energy consumption by network nodes, get the best performance ...

Co-link configuration: using wireless diversity for more than just connectivity

wireless, diversity, configuration, discovery This paper describes a novel approach to setting up peer to peer wireless links, such as IrDA, BlueTooth, and 802.11b. We explain how the lack of physical contact inherent in wireless creates new configuration challenges and ease of use issues, and we discuss the limitations of current wireless autoconfiguration techniques. We present Co-Link Config...

Link layer protocol performance of indoor infrared wireless communications

The increasing deployment of portable computers and mobile devices leads to an increasing demand for wireless connections. Infrared presents several advantages over radio for indoor wireless connectivity but infrared link quality is affected by ambient infrared noise and by low power transmission levels due to eye safety limitations. The Infrared Data Association (IrDA) has developed the widely...

Optimization of IrDA IrLAP link access protocol

The widespread installation of millions of Infrared Data Association (IrDA) infrared (IR) ports in mobile devices for wireless communication applications necessitates for throughput performance optimization of the IR links at the IrDA link access protocol (IrLAP) link layer. For IrDA connectivity, link-layer throughput optimization is important for any line bit-error rate (BER). The paper provi...
